Getting started
- Download SShoty from the Mac App Store and open it. A short tour shows you around — you can replay it any time from Help › Replay Tutorial.
- Allow Screen Recording when macOS asks.
- Choose a capture mode in the console, then press the shutter. Your capture is copied to the clipboard and opens in the editor.
Troubleshooting
SShoty says it needs Screen Recording access
Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording (Screen Recording on macOS Sonoma) and turn on SShoty. Then quit and reopen SShoty — macOS applies the change only after the app relaunches.
macOS asks again whether SShoty may record the screen
Recent versions of macOS periodically ask you to confirm screen access for screenshot apps. Choose Allow to keep using SShoty.
Selecting precisely
While you drag a selection, hold ⇧ for a perfect square and ⌥ to draw from the centre. The loupe and the size readout help you land exactly on the pixel. Press esc to cancel.
Capturing menus or tooltips
Set a delay in the console before you press the shutter. That gives you time to open the menu or hover the tooltip you want to capture.
Finding an earlier capture
Your recent captures — up to 300 — are kept in SShoty’s private history, on your Mac, and listed in the editor’s sidebar.
Restoring SShoty Pro on another Mac
Sign in to the Mac App Store with the same Apple Account, open SShoty, go to SShoty Pro and use its restore option.
